Hampshire Woman Killed Sunday (Oct. 7) in Crash on Plank Road
A 57-year-old Hampshire woman was killed Sunday when her car was rear-ended on Plank Road in unincorporated Burlington, then crashed into a utility poll.
According to a Kane County Sheriff’s Office report, deputies were dispatched at about 1 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 7, to the area of Plank Road and Romke Road for a report of a traffic crash with injuries.
The initial investigation indicates that a Kia Optima driven by Kyle Luebke, 28, of DeKalb and Ford Fusion driven by Cindy Fromas, 57, of Hampshire were traveling west on Plank Road and, for an unknown reason, the Kia rear ended the Ford causing the Ford to strike a utility pole.
Fromas was pronounced deceased at the scene. Luebke was transported to an Elgin-area hospital and is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
There were no passengers in either vehicle.
Sheriff’s deputies and members of the Kane County Accident Reconstruction Team are continuing to investigate the cause of the crash.
No citation(s) have been issued at this time as of Sunday, and detectives are still trying to determine if drugs, alcohol, texting or excessive speed were involved in this crash.
