New Traffic Pattern For Huntley, Galligan Intersection Reconstruction
Starting Wednesday (Oct. 3, 2018), a new traffic pattern will begin at the intersection of Huntley Road and Galligan Road in unincorporated Gilberts.
According to a news release from the Kane County Division of Transportation, crews will be adding left and right turn lanes on Galligan Road and a right turn lane for east bound Huntley Road.
The traffic pattern change will allow workers to safely continue intersection improvements on the north side of Huntley Road and the east side of Galligan Road.
During the work, there may be temporary daily single-lane closures with flaggers directing traffic.
Construction work hours will be from 6 a.m. until 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday. The remaining work at the intersection is anticipated to take approximately two months to complete.
The above-mentioned roads will remain open during construction, but may be reduced to one lane, as mentioned above.
Motorist need to be prepared to reduce their speed, exercise caution, watch for construction workers, construction vehicles entering or leaving the site and obey flaggers and other traffic control devices within the work zone.
You should expect long delays while traveling through the work areas and consider adding time to your commutes or using alternate routes while this work is being completed.
KDOT reminds drivers that it is illegal to talk on a cell phone while driving through a highway construction work zone.
