Road Update: South First Street in West Dundee Will Close 3 Days, Route 31 Work in Carpentersville
As part of the Route 72 Resurfacing project, Illinois Department of Transportation contractor Lorig Construction will be replacing the concrete roadway approach on South First Street, immediately south of Route 72 in West Dundee.
In an effort to minimize traffic disruptions and expedite repairs, this work is scheduled to be completed over three consecutive days. As a result, First Street between Oregon Ave and Route 72 will be closed to through traffic from 8 a.m. Monday, Oct. 15, through Thursday morning, Oct. 18.
“We are strongly encouraging the community to utilize the signal at Fifth Street to access Route 72 while this work is ongoing,” village officials said in a news release.
Removal of concrete will begin on Monday, Oct. 15, with new patches to be poured on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Access to the downtown municipal parking lots will remain available.
Officials said that, by closing First Street for three consecutive days, all of the work is able to be completed at once.
“To break this work into separate time frames would, in all likelihood, cause more than a week of intermittent closures,” the news release said. “We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience while this work is completed.”
