“If you live in Kane County, you can vote NOW!”

That’s how the Kane County Clerk’s Office announced the beginning of the early-voting period for the Nov. 6 election.

As a sign of the times, the announcement came in the form of a Tweet on Sept. 27, the day early voting officially began at two sites: the Kane County Clerk’s Office, 719 S. Batavia Ave. in Geneva, and the new Aurora satellite office, 5 E. Downer Place in downtown Aurora.

Additional early-voting locations will be open on Oct. 22.

According to the Kane Count Clerk’s Office website, early voting allows voters to cast a full ballot before the observed election day.

Although voters can still go to their polling place on Election Day, “this is intended to make voting easier for everyone,” the Clerk’s Office says. “This cuts down on lines at the polling place as well as allowing voters to vote when it fits their schedule. ”

The Clerk’s Office reminds voters that early voting is not conducted at your usual polling place. Polling places will only be open for voting on the observed Election Day.

The ballot is the same, whether voting absentee, early or at the polling place on election day.​
