Charges Filed in Algonquin Jewel-Osco Vehicle Hijacking
An 18-year-old Carpentersville man has been charged in relation to the Oct. 18 vehicle hijacking and retail theft at the Jewel-Osco, 1501 E. Algonquin Road.
According to an Algonquin Police Department news release, Tejontae Williams, 18, has been charged with Vehicular Hijacking, Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle, Aggravated Battery, Retail Theft, Criminal Damage to Property and Driving While License Suspended.
During the Oct. 18 incident, Williams and a juvenile suspect are alleged to have committed a theft of liquor from the business.
While fleeing the scene, Williams reportedly approached a 58-year- old Algonquin woman in the parking lot, pushed her to the ground and fled the scene in the victim’s vehicle.
The female victim did not suffer any injuries, and her vehicle was recovered in Carpentersville shortly after the incident.
Williams is being held at the McHenry County Correctional Facility and his bond has been set at $150,000.
