Health Department: Company Recalls Asparagus Due to Possible Listeria

Well, as if it weren’t enough that you have to be worried about your Thanksgiving turkey, you also should check out your asparagus, if you happen to have that vegetable on the menu.

The following information is printed on the back panel of each package (bag):

Healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea. Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.

Consumers who have purchased the product with the code listed above may contact the company’s consumer affairs line at 1-800-527-0986 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday or return the product to the place of purchase for a full refund.
