Illinois Flags at Half Staff Honor 12 Killed in Thousand Oaks

Flags throughout Kane County will fly at half staff to honor the victims of Wednesday night’s mass shooting in Thousand Oaks, CA.

The Illinois Department of Central Management Services has received notice from the President of the United States of America and Illinois Gov. Bruce Rauner that all persons or entities covered by the Illinois Flag Display Act are to fly the flag has half staff from now until sunset Saturday.

According to media sources, a former U.S. Marine machine gunner, identified by police as Ian David Long, 28, killed 12 people, including a sheriff’s sergeant who responded to the gunfire, at the Borderline Bar and Grill in Thousand Oaks.

Police later found the shooter dead inside the bar, possibly from a self-inflicted wound.

The grill was hosting line-dancing lessons for college students as young as 18 on Wednesday night.
