Nomination Forms Now Available For Kane County Educator of The Year

Nominations are now being accepted for Kane County Educator of the Year 2019 awards, which will be presented Friday, May 3, 2019, at the Q Center in St. Charles.

2018 Educator of the Year — Kyle Libberton of St. Charles East High School

The Educator of the Year Awards celebrate the teachers, administrators, and support staff who work every day to provide a fantastic education for students throughout Kane County.

Nominations are now being accepted by the Kane County Regional Office of Education through March 4. The nomination packet can be found here, and the physical forms will be sent out later this week.

All nominees should be skillful, dedicated, and continue to play an active role in education.

Nomination Categories

Kane County Educator of the Year

Nominations can be made in nine categories:

  1. Classroom Pre-School Teacher — A teacher who spends more than 50 percent of his or her time instructing students. A minimum o five years teaching experience is required.
  2. Classroom Elementary Teacher — A teacher who spends more than 50 percent of his or her time instructing students. A minimum o five years teaching experience is required.
  3. Classroom Middle School Teacher — A teacher who spends more than 50 percent of his or her time instructing students. A minimum o five years teaching experience is required.
  4. Classroom High School Teacher — A teacher who spends more than 50 percent of his or her time instructing students. A minimum o five years teaching experience is required.
  5. School Administrator — District superintendents, assistant superintendents, principals, assistant principals, coordinators, directors or others whose responsibilities are more than 50 percent administrative.
  6. Student Support Personnel — School nurse, psychologist, social worker, guidance counselor, media/librarian/audio visual or speech/language therapist who spends more than 50 percent of his or her time in the indicated field.
  7. Early Career Educator — Teachers in their second to fifth year of a teaching career may be nominated. The criteria are the same as any of the teaching awards, but this award is designed to recognize the accomplishments of a teacher in the early years of his or her career.
  8. Private/Parochial — Award for excellence in any position of a private or parochial school.
  9. Educational Service Personnel — Secretaries, aides, cafeteria workers, custodians, bus drivers, crossing guards and others.
