Lucky Lindy was the name Charles Lindberg received after making the first solo airplane flight from New York to Paris in 1927. He became such an American hero that a swing dance was named after him called The Lindy. The word “hop” was added later.

Lindy is also a variation on the names Linda and Melinda meaning beautiful, pretty and sweet. (Lindy name — Wikipedia.) And all of these adjectives definitely describe little Lindy, KCAC’s almost 3-year-old Cairn Terrier-mix.

She originally came to KCAC when she was but a mere pup along with her other littermates. Returned by her original adoptive family due to one member not being totally on board with having a four-footed member in the house, Lindy is eager to find her new owners.

With her one ear pointing towards the North and her other ear bending towards the southern hemisphere, Lindy looks longingly into your face through her button eyes and implores you to take her home.

She gets very excited to meet and greet other dogs, wagging her tail throughout the entire experience. Eventually, she loses interest in the other canines, preferring to move on to play with her stuffed animals or receive an immense amount of attention from her humans.

As the cold winter months approach, Lucky Lindy would be the perfect companion to share your lap while you drink hot chocolate and settle down for a long winter’s nap.

How to Adopt

All Kane County Animal Control adoptable cats and dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up-to-date on all vaccines, including rabies. They are tested for feline leukemia/FIV and heartworm.

The adoption fee is $200 for dogs and $100 for cats. Adoption of two dogs is $300, and adoption of two cats is $150. The adoption fee for cockatiels is $25.

About Kane County Animal Control

It is the duty of the Animal Control Department to:

• Ensure that all domesticated dogs and cats over 4 months of age are vaccinated against rabies and have a Kane County rabies tag.
• Ensure that all reported animal bites are given precautionary attention in relation to the possibility rabies infection.
• Ensure that pet owners are instructed on proper procedures pertaining to animal bites and enforce adherence to these procedures.
• Contain loose\stray dogs in unincorporated Kane County and those towns and villages with whom contracted.
• Investigate nuisance dog complaints in unincorporated Kane County and those towns and villages with whom contracted.
