Sustainability Network Hosts ‘Greenest Region Compact’ Forum Nov. 30 in St. Charles

The Fox Valley Sustainability Network is hosting a public forum Friday on the Greenest Region Compact 2 and the municipalities that have deployed it.

The forum will take place from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 30, at the Hickory Knolls Discovery Center, 3795 Campton Hills Drive, St. Charles.

The Greenest Region Compact promotes sustainability in communities across the Chicago region. Research done to build the GRC showed that 81 percent of all communities are making substantial efforts toward sustainability.

The foundation of the GRC is 49 high-level goals that have been reached by consensus — aligning with important local, regional, national and global goals.

These goals guide municipal action, support mayors in their role as environmental leaders, and foster collaboration that will have positive impacts on the region.

Speakers Edith Makra of the Metropolitan Mayors Caucus and Tom Weisner, former mayor of Aurora, will discuss the benefits of the Greenest Region Compact for the Fox Valley region at the forum.
