Traffic Alert For Black Friday at Premium Outlet Mall
According to the 2018 Deloitte Holiday Retail Survey, total retail sales will increase 5 percent to 5.6 percent this holiday season, with online sales likely rising 17 percent to 22 percent.
Locally, the Aurora Police Department and the Chicago Premium Outlets mall already are issuing alerts for this year’s Black Friday event scheduled to kick off on Thanksgiving evening, Thursday, Nov. 22.
Be sure to read to the end of this, because part of the message is for non-customers heading to I-88 — and there’s a detour involved.
“Chicago Premium Outlet’s doors will open at 6 p.m. for customers and stay open until 10 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 23,” the APD said on its Facebook page. “In order to make this event safe and enjoyable for everyone, we’re offering the following tips for commuting to and from the event.”
CUSTOMERS COMING FROM THE EAST VIA I-88
Patrons coming to the event via I-88 with an I-PASS transponder are encouraged to use the Eola Road exit in order to access the shopping mall. Customers will take this exit to Bilter Road, proceed westbound by turning left on Bilter; and will access the mall property via the north entrance of Sealmaster Drive at the traffic light. Patrons will then be directed to the various parking lots and subsequent parking spaces by on-site parking personnel. There is no cost to park.
Patrons coming to the event via I-88 without an I-PASS transponder should utilize the Farnsworth Avenue North exit in order to access the shopping mall. Patrons will merge onto Farnsworth via the off-ramp and stay in the furthest right hand lane, accessing the mall property via the west entrance which is Premium Outlets Boulevard at the traffic light. Customers will then be directed to the various parking lots and subsequent parking spaces by on-site parking personnel. There is no cost to park.
CUSTOMERS COMING FROM THE WEST VIA I-88
Patrons, with or without I-PASS transponders, coming to the event via I-88 are encouraged to utilize the Farnsworth Avenue North exit in order to access the shopping mall. Patrons will merge on to Farnsworth via the off-ramp heading northbound and maneuver into the furthest right hand lane. Patrons will access the mall property via the west entrance which is Premium Outlets Blvd. at the traffic light. Customers will be directed to the various parking lots and subsequent parking spaces by on-site parking personnel. There is no cost to park.
CUSTOMERS COMING FROM THE NORTH VIA KIRK ROAD
Patrons coming to the event via Kirk Road north of Butterfield Road (IL Route 56) should utilize various off-site parking lots on Church Road as instructed by police and parking personnel. These patrons will turn westbound (right) onto Butterfield Road (Route 56) and then southbound (left) onto Church. Parking personnel will then direct patrons to the various off-site parking lots and subsequent parking spaces. There is no cost to park and customers will be transported to the shopping mall via shuttles which are free of charge.
CUSTOMERS COMING FROM THE SOUTH VIA FARNSWORTH AVENUE
Patrons coming to the event via Farnsworth Avenue from the south will access the mall property via the west entrance which is Premium Outlet Boulevard at the traffic light. Customers will then be directed to the various parking lots and subsequent parking spaces by on-site parking personnel. There is no cost to park.
NON-CUSTOMERS COMING FROM THE NORTH VIA KIRK ROAD WISHING TO USE I-88
Non-customers who are coming from the north on Kirk Road and want access to I-88 will have to detour due the southbound lanes of Kirk Road being closed at Butterfield Road. These motorists will have to turn east, or left, onto Butterfield from Kirk and are encouraged to use I-88 via either Eola Road or Route 59. For I-88 access via Eola, motorists should use Bilter Road for westbound I-88 access and Diehl Road for eastbound I-88 access.
NON-CUSTOMERS COMING FROM THE SOUTH VIA FARNSWORTH AVENUE WISHING TO USE I-88
Non-customers who are coming from the south on Farnsworth Avenue and need to access I-88 will not have any limitations on accessing either eastbound or westbound on-ramps for I-88.
“Thank you for your patience, and please drive carefully,” the Facebook post says.
