OK, it’s retired Kane County Chief Judge Judith Brawka along with retired Chief Judge Keith Brown and newly appointed Associate Judge Salvatore LoPiccolo, but we guarantee you and your child will enjoy the 20th Anniversary Family Reading Night with the Judges as much as (or more than) if it were hosted by the daytime TV celebrity.

Family Reading Night is the super-popular event for children in second grade or younger in which kids, accompanied by an adult, get a chance to hear a bedtime story read by a judge, tour a courtroom, have some snacks and sit in a real judge’s chair.

Hosted by the Kane County Law Library in cooperation with the Kane County 16th Judiciary, the event takes from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday (Nov. 14, 2018) at the Kane County Law Library and Self Help Legal Center, located on the second floor of the Kane County Judicial Center, 37W777 Route 38, St. Charles.

“Experience the excitement of touring a courtroom and sitting in a real judge’s chair!” the Law Library’s news release says. “Enjoy snacks, laughter, and stories as we celebrate the importance of literacy and quality time spent reading with those most important to us. … And don’t forget to wear your pajamas!”

Family Reading Night is an annual statewide event sponsored by the Illinois Secretary of State and State Librarian Jesse White and Illinois Center for the Book.

About The Kane County Law Library

Located within the Kane County Judicial Complex, the Kane County Law Library is open not only to attorneys and government employees, but to the public as well. Patrons may frequent the library Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. or Wednesdays between 8:30 a.m. and 8 p.m. Though mainly a reference library housing the county’s core of legal research materials, some publications may be checked out for up to a two week period. The library also offers the service of inter-library loaning items that are not within its own collection. A copier is available for public use for a minimal fee.
