What’s Closed, What’s Open, What’s Working After Monday Blizzard

What’s closed, what’s open, what’s working and what’s not during the “snow day” of Monday, Nov. 26? And what will be open or closed Tuesday?

Here’s a quick overview:

First, the Kane County Government Center non-emergency offices are closed today (Monday) with the exception of the Kane County Clerk’s Office, which decided to open its doors. Kane County government offices will be open again during usual hours Tuesday. The 16th Judicial Court is closed Monday and will reopen Tuesday.

Second, all Kane County public schools and many parochial and private schools are closed Monday but will reopen Tuesday. Check the appropriate link in this article to find out the latest from your school district.

Third, most garbage collection services are halted Monday and many will be delayed by one day throughout the week. Municipal fall leaf collection services scheduled for this week have been delayed or cancelled due to the snow. Be sure to check your municipality’s website or waste hauler’s website for the latest.

Finally, all local government offices, businesses and school websites we’ve checked appear to be ready to open for regular hours on Tuesday, Nov. 27.

Power Outages

There are some power outages as of noon Monday.

The city of Geneva reports Electric Division crews are still addressing extended storm-related outages impacting 29 customers near Dunstan Road south of Fargo Boulevard and Hawthorne Lane south of Cheever Avenue. The city expected service to be back online by Monday afternoon.

Outages also were reported in Aurora, Bartlett, Elgin, and St. Charles Township.

Libraries, Park Districts And Other Services

A quick look at local websites and Facebook pages indicates many Kane County libraries are open, after a slow start to the morning.

Park districts are a mixed bag, so check your local park district’s website or Facebook page for the latest on programs, office and fitness centers hours. Here’s what we know, for sure:

Batavia Park District offices and programs are closed today (Monday).

Dundee Township Park District programs for Monday, Nov. 26, are cancelled, but the Randall Oaks Recreation Center and Rakow Center are open.

At the Fox Valley Park District, Creative Play Preschool at Prisco and Eola, as well as Nature Play Preschool at Blackberry Farm and Red Oak, have been cancelled today, Nov. 26. Facilities, programs and Fox Fitness centers are open.

Geneva Park District classes/programs scheduled for Monday, Nov. 26, have been cancelled due to weather. BestLife Fitness at Stephen Persinger Recreation Center and Sunset Community Center will remain open during normal business hours of 5:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.

At the St. Charles Park District, Before the Bell, Baker Station and preschool programs are canceled for Monday, Nov. 26.

Sugar Grove Park District offices and programs are cancelled Monday, Nov. 26.
