In the grand scheme of things, she’s a small part of the whole, a microscopic speck that happens to have four legs, a tail and ears pointing outward from her head, reaching towards the rest of the universe. The tongue peeks out from the wide smile she gives you as she greets you for the first time.

Tiggy

Her name is Tiggy, and she is a 2-year-old Chihuahua with a brindle coat reminiscent of much larger breeds such as boxers, bully breeds and hound dogs. If dogs could talk, a larger dog might shake his or her head in disbelief on their first meeting and say, “So, you’re part of the canine family, too? When did that happen?”

But Tiggy can hold her own in the dog world. Once owned by a family that had to surrender her, she grew up with another dog in the home. As she tries to climb your lap for some serious cuddling, you begin to realize that this small dog has a sweet personality that doesn’t stop.

She’s very active and enjoys playing with stuffed toys that she can chase around the room if you’re kind enough to throw it for her. Taking a short run outside would help her spend her energy, then back inside for a nice nap in front of the fireplace. No, thank you, she doesn’t need any help getting onto the couch for a cuddling, sleeping session.

She’s more than willing to play with other dogs her size if they’re willing to play nice. Her favorite game is “It’s mine now, catch me if you can!”

Tiggy is definitely proof that size doesn’t matter when it comes to employing a huge personality. She’s in need of a family willing to let her light shine as bright as possible!

How to Adopt

All Kane County Animal Control adoptable cats and dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up-to-date on all vaccines, including rabies. They are tested for feline leukemia/FIV and heartworm.

The adoption fee is $200 for dogs and $100 for cats. Adoption of two dogs is $300, and adoption of two cats is $150. The adoption fee for cockatiels is $25.

About Kane County Animal Control

It is the duty of the Animal Control Department to:

• Ensure that all domesticated dogs and cats over 4 months of age are vaccinated against rabies and have a Kane County rabies tag.
• Ensure that all reported animal bites are given precautionary attention in relation to the possibility rabies infection.
• Ensure that pet owners are instructed on proper procedures pertaining to animal bites and enforce adherence to these procedures.
• Contain loose\stray dogs in unincorporated Kane County and those towns and villages with whom contracted.
• Investigate nuisance dog complaints in unincorporated Kane County and those towns and villages with whom contracted.
