New Traffic Signals Operational Jan. 29 at Huntley, Galligan Intersection
Starting Tuesday (Jan. 29, 2019) new traffic signals are anticipated to be operational at the intersection of Huntley Road at Galligan Road in unincorporated Gilberts ā weather permitting.
Crews have added left- and right-turn lanes on Galligan Road, a right-turn lane for eastbound Huntley Road, and a left-turn lane for westbound Huntley Road.
This traffic pattern is the final traffic configuration for the intersection.
There is minor punch list work remaining that may require periodic temporary daily single lane closures with flaggers directing traffic. Construction work hours will be from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
The remaining work will be completed in the spring, when the weather is above freezing.
Huntley and Galligan roads will remain open during construction, but may be reduced to one lane of travel using temporary daily lane closures. Motorists need to be prepared to reduce their speed, exercise caution, and be extra alert.
You should expect long delays while traveling through the work areas and consider adding time to your commutes or use alternate routes while this work is being completed.
KDOT reminds drivers that it is illegal to talk on a cell phone while driving through a highway construction work zone.
