Just about everybody in Kane County is going to see revised garbage pickup schedules this week and weekend.

Here’s what we know right now:

Advanced Disposal, which serves Batavia and Mill Creek, will suspend all trash and recycling collections on Thursday.

Due to the severe weather, Advanced Disposal will be closed Thursday Jan. 31, the website said. “We will be collecting trash only when we reopen Friday, Feb.1, and continue working Saturday, Feb. 2, to get all collections completed.”

Recycling services will resume starting the week of Feb. 4, 2019.

“We’re asking that all residential customers leave their trash at the curb, and we will collect it as soon as conditions permit on Friday or Saturday,” the website said. “We will not be open Sunday. A reminder to commercial customers: Please clear snow from corrals to avoid delays in service.”

Groot — which serves Algonquin, Aurora, Big Rock, Burlington, Carpentersville, Sleepy Hollow, South Elgin, West Dundee and Elgin Township — will suspend operations Thursday, as well.

“All services will be delayed,” the Groot website says.

According to a city of Aurora news release, the new collection schedule for Aurora is as follows:

  • If the normal collection day is Wednesday, trash will be picked up NEXT Wednesday, Feb. 6. Residents can put out an additional trash can or garbage bag for no additional charge.
  • If the normal collection day is Thursday, trash will be picked up on Friday, Feb. 1.
  • If the normal collection day is on Friday, trash will be picked up on Saturday, Feb. 2.

Flood Brothers Disposal, which includes the village of Lake in the Hills and Pingree Grove and all unincorporated stops in Kane County, said service is cancelled Thursday.

“Due to continued freezing conditions, we will not offer collections on Thursday, Jan. 31,” the website said. “Please stay tuned to #FloodBrothersDisposal social media and website for updates.”

Municipal collection schedules are listed below:

  • Village of East Dundee: Pick up on Friday.
  • Unincorporated: Wednesday to be hauled Friday.
  • Pingree Grove: Pick up on Saturday
  • Village of Lake in the Hills: Wednesday collection on Friday; Thursday collection should be left out for Friday. “In the event it is not picked up on Friday it will be picked up on Saturday. Friday Collection will occur on Saturday.”

Lakeshore Recycling, which serves the cities of Geneva and St. Charles, the villages of Elburn, Sugar Grove and Montgomery as well as Virgil and Plato townships, announced that it has suspended waste hauling on Thursday.

Here’s what the city of Geneva posted around 1:45 p.m. Thursday:

Due to the extreme weather, Lakeshore Recycling Systems will be suspending recycling collection the week of Jan. 28 in Geneva.

Garbage pickup will still take place one day later than normal on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 1-2.

Geneva residents are encouraged not to put their recycling carts outside and should wait for the following week’s standard service day.

Residents who do opt to place recycling carts at the curb Feb. 1-2 will notice those carts being dumped, along with their waste, into a garbage truck. The company stated the decision was a last-resort measure that was made based on the safety and welfare of its drivers.

Lakeshore notified the city about the suspended recycling collection Jan. 31.

Both garbage and recycling will be picked up on the normal Thursday-Friday schedule the week of Feb. 4. For more information about Geneva’s refuse services, visit the city’s website.

Waste Management, which serves Elgin, Hampshire, Kaneville, Maple Park, North Aurora, Sun City/Del Webb and Campton Township, said via email that, due to the extreme weather conditions, it would delay pickup by one day.

“All route collections have been suspended for Wednesday and Thursday in Elgin. Trash collection will resume on Friday for residential and commercial collection. Residents with scheduled trash collection for Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday should place trash carts out by 6 a.m. on Friday for resumed service.”

All trash carts will be serviced by end of Saturday. Recycling carts will be serviced on next week’s normal collection day.

North Aurora added this not around 2:30 p.m. Thursday:

“Waste Management WILL pick up trash Friday. NO recycling pick up until next week.”

“Due to the extreme weather conditions, we will be closed Wednesday and Thursday,” the website said. “We will be running routes Friday and Saturday to catch up though your normal pickup will be delayed.”
