UPDATE: North Aurora Natural Gas Leak Repaired, Roads Open

North Aurora officials announced at around 8:20 p.m. Tuesday that a natural gas leak in the area of Hidden Creek Lane and Fox Hill Lane has been repaired, and all roads are now open to traffic.

Village officials reported the gas leak shortly after 11 a.m. Tuesday and had asked residents and visitors to avoid the area while Fire Department and Nicor crews worked on repairs and safety measures.

No evacuation was necessary.

Hidden Creek Lane and Fox Hill Lane are located between the Summerwind and Oak Hill Subdivisions in North Aurora.

By late afternoon, residents could detect a gas odor in the general area of Oak Street and Randall Road, but the odor was not dangerous to people or pets, officials said on Facebook.

As of today (Wednesday, Jan. 16), there was no information of what may have caused the gas leak.
