The National Weather Service Chicago has issued a Flood Advisory for the Fox River at Montgomery and the Algonquin Tailwater and is alerting residents of potential flooding near the South Elgin dam.

Numerous ice jams have occurred along area rivers over the last couple weeks due to a previous period of very cold conditions. Although the period of cold weather over the past few days was not as severe, some new development of river ice occurred.

Additional ice jams may cause rises on area rivers with little warning.

This outlook means that elevated river conditions and potential impacts remain possible, but are not certain. Those with interests along area rivers should closely monitor future river forecasts.
