Wouldn’t it be wonderful if babies came into this world already potty trained and accident free?

Imagine, no spills on the couches or rugs, no baby-proofing the house, no throw-up on the new comforter. Toys automatically put back in the toy box without a mention and bedtime is adhered to with no discussion.

“Only in a sci-fi world,” you might think as you laugh hysterically at the thought.

And yet, too many times we expect this perfection from a puppy or any new four-legged member of the family. If the poor creature can’t meet these high expectations, it becomes time to surrender the dog to a shelter or, even worse, abandon it to a forest preserve because, although having a dog is everyone’s right, spending time training it is not top priority on everybody’s to-do list.

Enter Buster, a 5-month-old Pit bull puppy with the cutest face everyone can fall in love with. Found as a stray, Buster came to us toward the end of 2018 and has proven to be a real sweetheart.

He’s a very friendly little guy that encompasses every definition of the word “active.” He loves playing and getting lots of attention. Due to his age and lack of socialization, he will need an abundance of training, as well as time spent around other dogs.

Buster has a lot of potential provided his new owner is willing to spend the time to work with him and show him the ins and outs of living in a home with a family wanting to give him every chance to succeed.

KCAC ‘Pupdates’

 We are so happy to announce that Dolly, the sweetest pit bull puppy ever that was found as a stray, went to a wonderful home where she will receive all the petting and love she has ever desired.

We are so happy for you, Dolly. You are finally back where you belong!

Congratulations to Bonnie, our 7-year-old German shepherd-mix with the laid-back disposition! Bonnie found her forever home before polar met vortex and is happily ensconced for the rest of the winter with a very loving family. You go, girl!

We are so happy for Sly, the 1-year-old Siberian husky with the energy level of a freight train. His adoptive parents couldn’t wait to get him home so he could begin his frolicking in the snow!

We know you’ll enjoy every minute of your new life, Sly!

Congratulations to Max, the energetic terrier-mix that found his forever home just in time to hunker down during the extremely cold weather.

We doubt he was bored, though, as his new family comes complete with a few energetic children to keep him from bouncing off the walls!

Beautiful and sweet, Paris, the domestic longhaired tricolored feline that was owner-surrendered has moved in with her new family and is receiving all the love and caring due any great feline of her stature! Pinky, up, Paris!

How to Adopt

All Kane County Animal Control adoptable cats and dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up-to-date on all vaccines, including rabies. They are tested for feline leukemia/FIV and heartworm.

The adoption fee is $200 for dogs and $100 for cats. Adoption of two dogs is $300, and adoption of two cats is $150. The adoption fee for cockatiels is $25.

About Kane County Animal Control

It is the duty of the Animal Control Department to:

• Ensure that all domesticated dogs and cats over 4 months of age are vaccinated against rabies and have a Kane County rabies tag.
• Ensure that all reported animal bites are given precautionary attention in relation to the possibility rabies infection.
• Ensure that pet owners are instructed on proper procedures pertaining to animal bites and enforce adherence to these procedures.
• Contain loose\stray dogs in unincorporated Kane County and those towns and villages with whom contracted.
• Investigate nuisance dog complaints in unincorporated Kane County and those towns and villages with whom contracted.
