Sheriff’s Office Offers $500 Scholarships For Kaneland, Burlington Students

The Illinois Sheriffs’ Association will be awarding over $50,000 in college scholarships throughout the state — and Kane County students are eligible for $1,000 of that.

The scholarships will go to students wishing to pursue higher education during the 2019-2020 academic year and are to be applied to tuition, books and fees only. The student must be enrolled full-time at a certified institution of higher learning within the State of Illinois.

Kane County Sheriff Ron Hain will be awarding two Illinois Sheriff’s Association scholarships in the amount of $500 each.

There will be no restriction on any applicant by reason of race, age, creed, color, sex or national origin. The only limitations are as follows:

  • Applicants must be permanent Illinois resident.
  • Applicants must be students who graduate with the Class of 2019 at Kaneland High School or Burlington Central High School.
  • Scholarships must be utilized at institutions of higher learning within the state of Illinois.
  • Students must be enrolled as a full-time student during the 2019-2020 school year (excluding summer session).

Applications are now available through the two schools’ guidance offices, the Kane County Sheriff’s Office c/o Sgt. Steven Collins or on the Illinois Sheriff’s Association Website at www.ILsheriff.org.

Students must complete the application, answer the essay question, and return all documentation to the point of contact listed below with the Kane County Sheriff’s Office, postmarked by March 15, 2019.
