When a relative or friend has dementia, communication can be very difficult, especially as the disease advances. Forgetfulness, agitation, repetition, and mood fluctuations can make visits stressful or frustrating, and many caregivers or loved ones worry they will say or do the wrong thing.

Deanna Roby-Vorgias is the new director of the Kane and Kendall U of I Extension.

University of Illinois Extension will provide information about common communication problems caused by Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias, and strategies for better interactions and visits.

This free seminar is provided in cooperation with the Association for Home and Community Education.

An Extension Educator will lead the program via webinar from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, March 26, at three local Extension offices: Naperville, St. Charles and Yorkville. Registration is required by Wednesday, March 20, to prepare materials.
