This is just another example of members of the community partnering with the police to stop crime and keep a neighborhood safe.

A DeKalb man was arrested late last night (Tuesday, April 2, 2019) after neighbors reported shots fired outside a Far East Side Aurora apartment complex.

Devon Moore, 22, of DeKalb, was charged with one count of Aggravated Use of a Weapon by a Felon (a Class 4 Felony) after he was stopped by Aurora police officers as he attempted to leave the scene of a shots fired incident in the 4100 block of Landing Dr., an apartment complex near the Aurora/Naperville border.

At 10:53 p.m., Aurora officers responded to the apartment complex after receiving several calls from witnesses who reported hearing gunshots in the area.

Witnesses also described a dark-colored Chevrolet Malibu as possibly being involved.

As officers arrived on scene, they observed Moore attempting to leave the scene in a car similar to the one described by callers. Officers conducted a traffic stop on Moore’s vehicle and ultimately discovered a loaded .45 cal pistol in Moore’s possession. Two other occupants were questioned and released without charges.

No injuries were reported during this incident, and it appears that no property was struck by gunfire.

Moore was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and transported to the DuPage County Jail where he awaits arraignment on bond. He will be assigned a court date upon release.

Charges are not proof of guilt. The defendant listed herein is presumed innocent and is entitled to fair trials at which it is the burden of the State to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
