Help Plant Trees With Forest Preserve Staff April 20 In Honor of Earth Day

Help celebrate Earth Day by planting trees at Big Rock Forest Preserve.

Volunteers are needed to plant trees at Big Rock Forest Preserve on Saturday, April 20, at 10 a.m. All are welcome. We’ll plant hundreds of trees in a few hours, and can use as many helpers as possible. Holes will be pre-dug. Volunteers will simply plant the tree, tamp down dirt, add water and mulch. It’s easy!

Be sure to arrive promptly at 10 a.m. Planting will continue until all trees are in the ground or 1 p.m. — whichever comes first!

Each year, the Forest Preserve District of Kane County plants trees as part of an Earth Day celebration. Over the years, thousands of trees have been planted with the help of volunteers.

This volunteer opportunity is perfect for individuals or groups, families, scouts, youth groups or other organizations. You’re welcome to plant a single tree, or stay and plant as many as you like. Bring work gloves if you prefer. Groups of 10 or more, please contact our volunteer coordinator at 630-762-2741 or volunteer@kaneforest.com to register. Groups of less than 10 do not need to RSVP.
