According to the preliminary investigation, a 2011 Toyota Rav 4 driven by 36-year-old Scott Meyers of Chicago was traveling north on Kirk Road when it collided with a southbound gray, 2005 Chevrolet Equinox driven by a juvenile male driver.

“It is unclear at this time who or what caused the collision,” police said in a news release.

Meyers was found deceased on the scene, police said. The juvenile, male driver and juvenile, male passenger of the Chevrolet Equinox were transported by ambulance to area hospitals for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Meyer’s vehicle came to rest on its side in the ditch, on the east side of the roadway.

Batavia police said a third and fourth vehicle were involved as collateral damage from the initial crash. A black, 2008 Saturn Aura traveling north collided with the Chevrolet Equinox after the initial crash. A beige, Hyundai Veracruz incurred minor damage as it drove through the debris of the initial crash.

None of the subjects in the third and fourth involved vehicles were injured.

At this time in the investigation, no citations have been issued, police said.

“This investigation is still open and ongoing,” police said. “We would like to thank all those who came forward as witnesses in this investigation. The Batavia Police also extends our condolences to the family of Mr. Meyers during this difficult time.”

Anyone with any additional information is asked to contact the Batavia Police Department.
