Elgin Wants To Improve Experience For Small Businesses

The city of Elgin’s process improvement team will host its first small business forums at the Heritage Ballroom in the Edward Schock Centre of Elgin, located at 100 Symphony Way in Elgin.

Small business owners are encouraged to attend one of two scheduled forums: at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 29, or 6 p.m. Thursday, May 30.

In an effort to improve the experience of those looking to open a business in Elgin, the small business public forums will provide business owners the opportunity to provide the city with feedback to help improve processes.

“Our team has been researching and analyzing internal processes and business owner interactions with the city,” officials said via Facebook. “We have developed the first phase of our ‘Doing Business in Elgin’ improvements and are very excited to share them with you.”

The process improvement team is looking at new informational materials, website revisions and application updates.

The process improvement team consists of staff from the City Manager’s Office and Community Development Department who have been working in collaboration with the Elgin Area Chamber of Commerce and Downtown Neighborhood Association of Elgin.

The forums are free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be provided.

“We’re focusing on small businesses and looking for business owners who will provide us with feedback and who want to contribute to the process improvements,” official said. “As business owners, you have the valuable insight that we need in order to provide better services.”
