Maple Park 63-Year-Old Charged With DUI, Aggravated Assault, Fleeing Pursuit, Reckless Driving
A Maple Park man faces multiple charges after he crashed his Ford Mustang, nearly hit a sheriff’s deputy and led law enforcers on a dangerous, high-speed chase Thursday (May 16, 2019) in rural Kane County.
According to a Kane County Sheriff’s Office news release, 63-year-old Jack Dolder of the 49W900 block of Beith Road, Maple Park, crashed his Mustang into a street sign on McGough Road near Middleton Road in Burlington Township, then left the area without stopping.
A witness reported that the vehicle had parked in a parking lot on IL Route 64 near Peplow Road in Virgil.
A Kane County Sheriff’s Office deputy arrived and began to speak with Dolder, who was still seated in the Mustang. Sheriff’s officials said Dolder suddenly backed up the Mustang and nearly hit the deputy, then drove off.
“The deputy attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver refused to pull over,” Kane County Undersheriff Pat Gengler said in the news release.
The Mustang continued to speed in an attempt to elude the deputy, so the deputy terminated his active pursuit.
A short time later, the deputy located the vehicle and again tried to stop it. Dolder’s Mustang entered a construction zone on Middleton Road near Peplow Road, where it eventually stopped.
Dolder refused verbal commands to exit the vehicle, officials said.
When deputies attempted to physically remove Dolder from the vehicle, he continued to resist and had to be tased before deputies were able to take him into custody.
Dolder was charged with the following:
- Aggravated assault, a class 3 felony.
- Aggravated fleeing and attempt to elude a police officer exceeding 21 MPH over the speed limit.
- Aggravated Fleeing of a police officer causing over $300 in property damage.
- Resisting a peace officer.
- Driving under the influence of alcohol.
- Driving under the influence of alcohol with BAC greater then .08.
- Illegal transportation of alcohol in a vehicle.
- Improper lane usage.
- Speeding greater than 25 mph over the speed limit.
- Disobeying a stop sign, two counts.
- Leaving the scene of a property damage accident.
- Reckless Driving.
The charges against Dolder are not proof of guilt. A defendant is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial in which it is the state’s burden to prove his or her guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
