REMINDER: There’s a Penalty If You Don’t Pay Your Property Tax Bill By June 3
Here’s a gentle reminder to pay the first installment of your Kane County property tax bill by Monday, June 3.
Now, here’s a not-so-gentle reminder:
If you don’t pay your property tax bill by Monday, June 3, you could get hit with a penalty of 1.5 percent. And if you’re bill is anywhere as large as our family’s, that’s a payment you’d rather not have to make.
As you can see by the chart above, the penalty is 1.5 percent for the period from June 4 to July 3. It goes up to 3 percent if you pay that first installment between July 4 and Aug. 3.
It’s 4.5 percent if paid between Aug. 4 and Sept. 3. It goes up to 6 percent if paid between Sept. 4 and Oct. 3 and to 7.5 percent if paid Oct. 4 through Oct. 18.
You may visit the Kane County Treasurer’s Office website at KaneCountyTreasurer.org to view tax information and print out duplicate bills. Also available on the website is a list of all unclaimed funds held by the Treasurer’s Office.
