KDOT: County Applies Crack Sealing To Tyrell Road in Gilberts, Starting June 11
Kane County will begin the final portion of the pavement preservation project by applying crack seal and a micro-surface treatment to a portion of Tyrell Road in Gilberts, starting Tuesday, June 11, 2019.
Construction work hours will be from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m. each day for about two weeks.
Cracks will be sealed, followed by a dual layer of micro-surface hot-mix asphalt on top.
Pavement preservation techniques are lower-cost maintenance improvements that reduce the water penetration that leads to freeze/thaw damage. The process prevents oxidation of the asphalt material and extends the overall lifespan of the roadways.
Tyrell Road will remain open during treatment but will be reduced to one lane of travel using flaggers and temporary daily lane closures.

Warning To Drivers
KDOT warns drivers to be prepared to reduce their speed, exercise caution, and be extra alert. Watch for construction workers, construction vehicles entering or leaving the site, and obey flaggers and other traffic control devices within the work zone.
Expect delays while traveling through the work areas. You may want to add additional time to your commute and consider the use of alternate routes while this work is being completed.
KDOT reminds drivers that is illegal to talk on a cell phone or text while driving through a highway construction work zone. The minimum penalty for speeding in a work zone is $375.
