Lewbel Is Aurora Police Department’s New Media Relations Coordinator
The Aurora Police Department has hired Paris Lewbel, a former Investigative reporter for WRTV-TV (Indianapolis, IN) as its new media relations coordinator.
Lewbel officially joined the APD on Monday, June 24, and will be introduced to area media during a 2 p.m. Friday meet-and-greet in the APD’s Department Community Room.
Bill Rowley, the interim coordinator, will remain as part of the department’s Public Information Officer Team along with other members of the organization, who will also be present.
According to an APD news release, Lewbel brings years of journalism experience in the ever-changing world of media. In Indianapolis, he was an Emmy-nominated investigative reporter at WRTV, the ABC affiliate in Indianapolis.
During his tenure, he covered local government, public safety, law enforcement matters, and issues facing the
community. Intensely committed to public outreach and community engagement, Lewbel plans to increase the visibility of the department through both traditional and social media.
Lewbel served on the Board of Directors of the Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana. He also represented WRTV at the Media and Emergency Services Organization, a group committed to bridging gaps between the media and public safety by building collaboration to ensure fair and accurate media coverage.
Over the years, Lewbel has volunteered his time to several departments and public information officers in the Midwest to help them with their overall message and to analyze current messaging.
Previous to his time in Indianapolis, Lewbel worked as a reporter in Lexington, KY, from 2013 to 2015.
Lewbel began his career in the Chicago area with Captured News, serving as a breaking news journalist covering breaking news throughout the Midwest.
He graduated from Columbia College in Chicago with a bachelor of arts degree in broadcast journalism.
In his spare time, Lewbel is an avid CrossFitter and enjoys traveling, swimming, bicycling, and caring for his two dogs.
