LIVE From Swedish Days! Cars Thursday, Kids Day Friday!
- Editor’s Note: Kane County Connects intern Allison Arguezo is out and about at Geneva’s Swedish Days this week, sampling the food, folks and fun. Here are a few photos from today (Thusday, June 20, 2019) as well as what to look forward to tonight and tomorrow.
Swedish Days in Geneva continues with a new car show this year (tonight, Thursday, June 20) and the traditional Kids Day on Friday.
Car Show Fun
I had a great chance to stop by the car show tonight.
The South Third Street car show is a new addition this year to the Swedish Days Festival.
The plaque on his bright, red Chevy truck says that the theme of the truck is in memory of the owner’s grandfather.
More Food!
The next thing I wanted to try while I’m at Swedish Days is the Swedish food!
The St. Peter Catholic Church has a stand where they make home-made Sweden pastries — and they serve Swedish coffee.
The Swedish coffee was a lot stronger than I thought it would be. If you’re a lover of strong coffee, like I am, then you’ll love this Swedish coffee.
In addition to the coffee, I tried a few of the Swedish chocolate balls, called chokladbollar. The chokladbollar were nothing that I’ve ever tried before.
It looked like a doughnut hole, but it wasn’t extremely sweet or rich. The light flavor from the chokladbollar make it the perfect sweet snack, great with any coffee or tea.
