Police: St. Charles Homeowner Grapples With Burglars Wearing Ski Masks

St. Charles police are alerting area residents of a residential burglary Thursday, when a homeowner reportedly confronted then grappled with two intruders wearing ski masks.

According to a St. Charles Police Department news release, officers were dispatched at 1:02 p.m. Thursday (June 13, 2019) to the report of a residential burglary in the 400 block of South 13th Street.

The first officer arrived on scene within one minute of being dispatched, police said.

The homeowner told police that he returned home and interrupted what appeared to be a residential burglary attempt. The homeowner said a struggle ensued, and the two offenders fled from the house on foot.

St. Charles Fire Department units were dispatched, and the homeowner was transported to Northwestern Delnor Hospital with minor injuries.

The offenders were described as two male Hispanics wearing gray sweatshirts and ski masks. Several officers checked the area and two K-9 units from the Kane County Sheriff’s Office responded and attempted to track the offenders, as well.

No offenders had been located as of late Thursday.
