Batavia Fire Department Investigating Blaze at Local Business Park

The Batavia Fire Department is investigating the cause of a Tuesday (July 2, 2019) fire in a small, unoccupied building in a business park just east of Kirk Road.

According to a Fire Department news release, Batavia firefighters responded at 11 a.m. Tuesday to a the report of a building fire at Mat Masters, 1055 Paramount Parkway, Suite D.

Smoke was shown on arrival and the alarm was upgraded to a general alarm for a fire in the unoccupied building. Batavia was assisted by St. Charles, Geneva, North Aurora, and Fermilab fire units.

Batavia Fire Department Batallion Chief Mark Cwinski said the sprinkler system managed to extinguish the fire and the situation was controlled at 11:30 a.m.

Auto aide companies assisted Batavia with overhaul and ventilation.

No civilian or firefighter injuries were reported.
