The Elgin Police Department has arrested a man accused of two public indecency incidents reported in the past week at Lowrie Elementary School, 264 Oak St.

According to the Elgin Police Department Facebook page, members of the Elgin community provided information that led to the arrest on charges of disorderly conduct, a Class C misdemeanor.

Police are not identifying the man or providing additional information about the arrest.

“We appreciate the community’s involvement and thank you for your help in keeping our community safe,” police said via Facebook. “Due to an Illinois state statue pertaining to social media postings regarding certain classes of misdemeanor crimes, we are not providing booking information.”

Elgin police officers received a report at 3:44 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27, regarding two past exposure incidents involving the same subject.

On Friday, Aug. 23, 2019, the subject was seen exposing himself while a parent was picking up a child from school in the afternoon. He is described as a white male between the ages of 60 and 70, wearing a key chain around his neck, having a long grayish hair, a thin build, and a full beard.

On Tuesday, Aug. 27, the same parent saw the subject again, at which time he exposed himself for a second time, police said. He was seen wearing dark jeans and no shirt.

No contact was made by the offender with the child or parent.

Although the man was arrested, officials are reminding parents of school-age children to remain vigilant and report incidents to police.

“Officers are routinely in the area of schools during arrival and dismissal times,” Elgin police officials said. “If you see something suspicious, please reach out to them immediately, or call 911.”
