KDOT: Route 31 Near Algonquin Closed For 30 Minutes At a Time on Aug. 14
Here’s an important update from the Kane County Division of Transportation for anyone driving on Route 31 in the Algonquin area on Wednesday, Aug. 14.
KDOT announced Monday (Aug. 5, 2019) that traffic on IL Route 31 between Lathrop and the entrance to Brunner Farm will be closed for periods of 30 minutes at a time, 10 times throughout the day on Aug. 14 to allow crews to deliver and off load bridge beams.
These closures will take place starting at 8:30 a.m. and occur throughout the day until all 10 beams are delivered.
The above-mentioned road will still remain open to traffic, but KDOT asks motorists to be prepared to reduce their speed, exercise caution, and be extra alert.
Motorists should expect very long delays while traveling through the work areas and may want to add additional time to their commutes and consider the use of alternate routes while this work is being completed.
About The Longmeadow Parkway Corridor
The Longmeadow Parkway Fox River Bridge Corridor is a planned tree lined Parkway and Fox River Bridge crossing with a landscaped median, approximately 5.6 miles in length, running from Huntley Road to IL Route 62.
The proposed road passes through portions of the villages of Algonquin, Carpentersville and Barrington Hills, as well as unincorporated areas of Kane County. KDOT officials say the bridge will provide a valuable benefit to the public by relieving congestion, encouraging economic development, improving travel options and connecting towns and neighborhoods.

Warning To Drivers
KDOT warns drivers to be prepared to reduce their speed, exercise caution, and be extra alert. Watch for construction workers, construction vehicles entering or leaving the site, and obey flaggers and other traffic control devices within the work zone.
KDOT reminds drivers that is illegal to talk on a cell phone or text while driving through a highway construction work zone. The minimum penalty for speeding in a work zone is $375.
