Randall Road Down To 1 Lane After Labor Day
The Fabyan Parkway and Randall Road bridge projects are welcome improvements to Kane County thoroughfares but taken together have been kind of a one-two punch for drivers in central Kane County this summer, and that continues after Labor Day, when Randall Road will be down to one lane in the area of Mooseheart.
According to a news release from the Kane County Division of Transportation, Randall Road will be reduced to one lane of traffic in each direction located one-half mile south of Main Street Road in Batavia starting the week of Sept. 2 through mid to late November 2019 to allow crews to safely work on the bridge rehabilitation improvement.
KDOT officials say the reduction in lanes is expected to result in very long delays traveling through the work zone. Work will consist of a new concrete bridge deck overlay, concrete parapet, asphalt approaches and new guardrail.
“As this can be an extremely busy road, much longer than normal traffic delays are expected during construction,” officials said in a news release. “Drivers are advised to add additional time to commutes or seek alternate routes during this time.”

Warning To Drivers
KDOT warns drivers to be prepared to reduce their speed, exercise caution, and be extra alert. Watch for construction workers, construction vehicles entering or leaving the site, and obey flaggers and other traffic control devices within the work zone.
KDOT reminds drivers that is illegal to talk on a cell phone or text while driving through a highway construction work zone. The minimum penalty for speeding in a work zone is $250.
