Reminder: 2nd Installment of Your Property Tax Bill Is Due Sept. 3
It’s easy to forget because the deadline falls right after the Labor Day weekend, so here’s a friendly heads-up:
The second installment of your property tax bill is due Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2019.
Kane County Treasurer David J. Rickert sent out the annual news-release reminder this week so that you can mark your calendar at pay at will.
“If you are a new or existing homeowner and need a copy of the bill to remit payment, you may print off a bill from the Internet by visiting the KaneCountyTreasurer.org website or by contacting the Treasurer’s Office at 630-232-3565,” Rickert said.
As you can see by the chart above, there are penalties for not paying your tax bill on time, so it’s a good idea to pay attention.
If your second installment is paid from Sept. 4 through Oct. 3, there’s a 1.5% penalty. If it’s paid between Oct. 4 and Oct. 25, there’s a 3% penalty.
And if it’s after Oct. 25, unpaid taxes will be paid at a tax sale on Oct. 28.
You may visit the Kane County Treasurer’s Office website at KaneCountyTreasurer.org to view tax information and print out duplicate bills. Also available on the website is a list of all unclaimed funds held by the Treasurer’s Office.

How To Pay Your Tax Bill in Kane County, IL
Taxpayers can make payment by:
- Mailing your coupon along with a check, payable to the Treasurer’s Office, in the envelope provided.
- Making payment at any one of the designated banks within Kane County on or before the due date, please remember to bring a payment coupon.
- Making payment with check, cash or credit card during business hours in the Treasurer’s Office. Hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday except holidays. Please remember to bring a payment coupon. Please note there is a convenience fee for debit and credit card use.
- Dropping a check with coupon in the property tax drop box, which is available 24 hours a day. The drop box is located behind Building A at the Kane County Government Center in Geneva. Check and coupon must be in an envelope.
- Using a credit card, debit card or e-check over the Internet. Please note there are convenience fees for credit card and debit card services. There is no fee for e-check. Additional information is available on the Treasurer’s Office website.
