The Solarize Chicaoland program is reaching benchmarks and producing savings for residential solar!

The Solarize Chicagoland group buy program is continuing to gain momentum as it surpassed its second and third goals of 150 and 250 kilowatts (kW), respectively as the 35th homeowner signed on to go solar.

And that’s good news for anyone in Kane County who’s interested in putting solar power in their home.

Offered for the first time to Chicago area property owners, Kane County has partnered with the Midwest Renewable Energy Association and the Citizens Utility Board to support the solar group purchase program.

The program has now grown to include 270 kW on 39 properties, with more contracts being signed every week.

“Remember, the more people who go solar, the lower the price for all,” said Jessica Mino, resource management coordinator for the Kane County Division of Environmental And Water Resources.

This third benchmark triggers an additional discount for everyone who goes solar through the program. The next benchmark is 500 kW.

The special pricing available through this program will be available to residents in Cook, DuPage, Kane, and Will counties until the program hits capacity of 150 homeowners. After the first 150 homeowners receive site assessments, the GRNE and Solarize Chicagoland will maintain a running waiting list.
