Campton Township Prairie Fest Is Saturday (Sept. 21) at Corron Farm
Prairie Fest is a family friendly event that includes wagon rides through the prairie, Corron Farm House tours, a Children’s Activity Area, feeding goats and vendors with a variety of items available for purchase.
The free event includes parking, admission, entertainment, tours, and refreshments.
Prairie Fest takes place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday (Sept. 21, 2019) at Historic Corron Farm, 7N761 Corron Road, at the northeast corner of Silver Glen and Corron Roads in Campton Hills.
There will be guided tours of 1850 Corron Home, the “Old Brick,” and 1888 Hired Man’s House. “Old Brick” is The 1850s brick Greek revival home built by Robert C. Corron, one of Campton Township’s earliest settlers.
Restored 1800s Carriages, Farm Equipment, Civil War letters, early photos, sheet music, and vintage postcards will be on display.
Activities include square dancing; hayride tours of oak savanna and prairie; children’s games; Elgin Public Museum, Elgin History Museum and Native American interpreters; music; handcrafted jewelry, local cheese, and honey for sale; local history and wildlife organizations and dancing.
