CONSIDERABLE … CATASTROPHIC; National Weather Service Has New Flood Warnings This Fall

There is an important change coming to the National Weather Service’s Flash Flood Warnings late this fall.

When there is higher expected or observed severity of flash flood impacts, these warnings will receive damage threat tags, such as CONSIDERABLE or CATASTROPHIC.

Once the impact-based FFW format is fully implemented, wireless emergency alerts will be limited to ONLY those two tags.

Presently, all FFWs trigger WEAs, which are free notifications delivered to your mobile device.
