Do You Rent Property in Elgin? Tuesday (Sept. 24) Forum Seeks Your Feedback
The city of Elgin’s Department of Neighborhood Services is hosting two community meetings to gather feedback on the city’s rental program and renting/owning rental property within Elgin.
The meetings will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24, and Monday, Sept. 30, in the Heritage Ballroom at the Edward Schock Centre of Elgin, located at 100 Symphony Way. The Tuesday, Sept. 24, meeting is tenant-focused while the Monday, Sept. 30, meeting is owner-focused.
Attendees will discuss Elgin’s Rental License Program and their experiences with owning or renting rental properties.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to learn about Elgin’s code compliance regulations for rental properties and ask questions of city staff, the Crime Free Housing Unit and Prairie State Legal Services.
This meeting is being held as a compliment to an internal review of the city’s rental program to improve its transparency, property owner accountability and overall customer experience.
The goal of the meeting is to gather feedback that city staff will use when making program enhancement recommendations to the city council during the 2020 budget process.
The round table meetings will be a facilitated by city staff. Attendees will also have the ability provide free form written feedback.
