Kane County got pummeled with more than 2 inches of rain over the weekend, causing flooding along the Fox River.

A Flood Warning remains in effect all along the Fox River in Kane County.

That includes the river at the Algonquin Lock & Dam tailwater, which extends from Johnsburg to Red Gate Road in St. Charles, and the Fox River at Montgomery, which extends from Red Gate Road in St. Charles downstream to Millington.

The Algonquin measure as of today (Monday, Sept. 23) was 10.7. Flood stage is 9.5 feet. If there’s no additional rain, the river should fall below flood stage by Friday.

“Low-lying sections of Cornish Park are inundated in Algonquin,” the NWS Chicago said.

At Montgomery, the stage was 13.7 feet. Flood stage is 13.0 feet. Again, the river is expected to drop below flood stage by Friday.

“Low-lying parking lots at city hall and Boy Scout Island are threatened in St. Charles,” the NWS Chicago said. “Fox River Trail is threatened at St. Mary Park in St. Charles.”
