Hello Friends and Family.
I am certain that you have noticed that I have not done a medical or cancer update in a very long time. The reason for the delay is that there is a significant update which I wanted to have information on before posting.
I am still cancer free, which is the good news. The bad news is that I need to have a liver transplant.
I am in search of a living liver donor, and I am therefore asking all of my friends and family to share my liver transplant blog in the hope that someone connected to me is willing and able to donate a portion of their liver as a replacement for my diseased liver.
I never thought when I was diagnosed with Mantle Cell Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma in February of 2016 that it would lead me to a critical need for a liver transplant.
I am searching for a living donor who is willing to give me a portion of their own liver. The healthy liver is a unique organ because it will grow back into a full size liver when a portion is removed.
The donor will recover, and their body will regrow the removed liver portion and the partial liver transplanted to me will grow to a full size functioning organ. The human body is amazing.
Key information if you are considering being a living donor for me:
- Blood Type “O” (positive or negative does not matter).
Must be between 18 and 55 years old.- Body mass index (BMI) equal to or less than 30.
- Overall good health with no major medical or psychiatric illnesses.
- Able to understand and comply with medical instructions.
- Motivated by altruistic reasons.
