Property Assessment Changes Are Posted For Geneva, Burlington Townships

The 2019 assessment changes for property in Burlington Township and Geneva Township are being published today (Thursday, Sept. 12, 2019)!

The 2019 Burlington Township assessment changes are published in the Fox Valley Daily Herald, and 2019 assessment changes for property in Geneva Township are published in the Kane County Chronicle.

If you want to challenge your property tax assessment in either of these two fine townships, the final filing deadline doing so is Oct. 15, 2019.

After all revisions and corrections by the Burlington Township Assessor were applied, each non-farm property in the township was equalized with a factor of 1.0554.

Each non-farm property in Geneva Township was equalized with a factor of 1.0000.

What’s an “equalization factor” and what does “equalization” mean? Basically, it’s the factor by which the assessed value of a property is multiplied to arrive at a value for the property that is in line with statewide tax assessments. Click this link to learn more about equalization factors.

So, to recap:

Assessment changes in Burlington and Geneva townships were published today; the final filing deadline for these townships is Oct. 15, 2019.
Assessment changes in Elgin Township were published Sept. 11; the final filing deadline for Elgin Township is Oct. 11, 2019.

Assessment changes in Aurora Township were published Sept. 5; the final filing deadline for Aurora Township is Oct. 7, 2019.

Assessment changes in Dundee and St. Charles townships were published Aug. 22; the final filing deadline for these townships is Sept. 23, 2019.

Assessment changes in Blackberry Township were published Aug. 15; the final filing deadline for this township is Sept. 16, 2019.

Assessment changes in Big Rock Township were published Aug. 12; the final filing deadline for this township is today (Sept. 11, 2019. )

The final filing deadlines for Batavia, Big Rock, Campton, Hampshire,Kaneville, Plato, Sugar Grove, and Virgil townships have passed; by law, assessment complaints can no longer be accepted for these townships.

Assessment changes for Rutland Township have not yet been published; as of today, no final filing deadline has been established for this township.
