According to an Aurora Police Department news release, officers were dispatched at around 5:50 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, to the intersection of Fourth Street and Spencer Street for reports of a vehicle crashed into a utility pole with airbags deployed.

At the same time, APD dispatch also received emergency calls reporting shots fired in the 300 block of Spencer Street that potentially involved the vehicle that had crashed into the utility pole. Witnesses reported the occupants of the vehicle had left the scene on foot.

Officers quickly arrived on scene and began canvasing the area to look for the occupants of the vehicle. Officers also began speaking to multiple witnesses that were in the area.

Witnesses told officers that the crashed vehicle drove down the 300 block of Spencer Street and shots were fired from inside the vehicle towards a group of people standing on the street.

  • Reckless Discharge of a Firearm, a Class 4 felony
