An Aurora police patrol supervisor spotted the other male and started chasing him. The supervisor shouted commands at the suspect, but he ran into a home in the 500 block of South Lake Street. Officers attempted to make contact with the suspect, but he refused to come out.

Around 7 p.m., a Kane County search warrant was authorized for the home and Aurora Police’s Special Response Team and Drone Team was activated and responded to the scene. Naperville’s Special Response Team also responded to the scene to assist. Aurora’s Emergency Management Agency was also requested to the scene and assisted in shutting down roadways in the area.

Officers used loudspeakers to make announcements for anyone inside the home to come out immediately. A woman came out of the home, but officers believed the male suspect and potentially others were still inside the home.

Officers continued to make announcements and eventually made entry to the front of the home. A short time later, a male and another female came out of the home.

The male suspect was taken into custody and is being interviewed by detectives.

Evidence technicians from Aurora Police’s Evidence Unit responded to the scene to identify and collect forensic evidence from the incident.

Detectives are still investigating the circumstances of the incident. Anyone with any potential information about what happened is asked to call the Arura Police Department Investigations Division at 630-256-5500 or call Crime Stoppers at 630-892-1000, where you can remain anonymous.
