Silver Glen Road Closed For 7 Hours Saturday, Oct. 26, To Install New Pedestrian Bridge

Work continues on Silver Glen Road over Otter Creek.

Silver Glen Road will be closed for about seven hours on Saturday (Oct. 26, 2019) so that crews can install a new pedestrian bridge over Otter Creek.

According to a Kane County Division of Transportation news release, Silver Glen Road will be closed between Burr Road and Crane Road from about 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.to allow crews to safely work on the pedestrian bridge.

The Silver Glen Road Bridge over Otter Creek bridge is located about three-quarters of a mile  west of Randall Road.

Once the road is re-opened to traffic, the bridge and pedestrian walkway will return to the one-lane closure configuration and continue for the duration of the project, anticipated to end in November 2019.

Pedestrians and bicyclists are advised to follow posted detour signs and will be rerouted across the Silver Glen over Otter Creek Bridge as construction will continue on the existing pedestrian bridge.

If possible, bicyclists and pedestrians are advised to avoid the use of the area during construction for the safety of both the workers and the residents.

Motorists may want to seek alternate routes while this work is being completed.

KDOT officials remind motorists that it is illegal to talk on a cell phone while driving through a highway construction work zone.
