Tyrell Road in Gilberts Down To 1 Lane For Final Pavement Preservation Project of 2019
Heads up if you’re planning to drive on Tyrell Road during Halloween week.
The Kane County Division of Transportation announced Tuesday (Oct. 22, 2019) that it will finish the final portion of its 2019 pavement preservation work by applying a micro-surface treatment to a portion of Tyrell Road in Gilberts, starting the week of Oct. 28, 2019.
Construction work hours will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for one day, weather permitting.
Tyrell Road will remain open during treatment, but in order to safely complete this work, Tyrell Road will be reduced to one lane of travel using flaggers and temporary daily lane closures.
This is the final work of the year for the pavement preservation work, which uses lower cost maintenance techniques earlier in the life cycle of the asphalt to reduce water penetration that leads to freeze/thaw damage.
KDOT officials say the treatments will extend the overall lifespan of the roadways.
During the roadwork, KDOT reminds motorists to be prepared to reduce their speed, exercise caution, and be extra alert.
