Kane County saw the first snow dump of the year this morning (Wednesday, Oct. 30), a day before Halloween, and the National Weather Service Chicago says there’s more on the way.

In fact, we could get up to 4 inches total snowfall during the next two days.

Halloween Winter Weather Advisory

The NWS-C has issued a Winter Weather Advisory, in effect from midnight to 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31.

The revised advisory was issued at 2:27 p.m. today (Wednesday).

• WHAT: Snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 2 to 4 inches. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph.
• WHERE: Portions of central, north central and northeast Illinois.
• WHEN: From midnight tonight to 6 p.m. Thursday.
• IMPACTS: Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning and evening commutes.
• PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS: Slow down and use caution while traveling. The latest road conditions for the state you are calling from can be obtained by calling 5-1-1.

Here is a map of 24-hour snowfall totals for Oct. 30. A narrow band of 1 to 3 inches fell across portions of the area with many seeing their first accumulating snowfall of the season.
