1 Man Injured When Shots Fired at Parked Vehicle in Aurora Township
Someone opened fire early this morning (Monday, Nov. 25, 2019) on a vehicle containing three passengers parked on a street in unincorporated Aurora.
According to a Kane County Sheriff’s Office news release, deputies responded at around 1:40 a.m. to a report of shots fired in the area of the 1200 block of Summit Avenue.
The initial investigation revealed that three men were sitting in a parked car when an unknown subject began to shoot at them.
As the shots were being fired, the driver attempted to flee the area but got stuck in a culvert.
The back-seat passenger, a 24-year-old Oswego man, was struck and sustained non-life-threatening injuries. He was transported to an Aurora area hospital.
The other two men, one from Aurora and the other from Oswego, were not injured.
Aurora Police Department patrol, K9 and drone units assisted sheriff’s deputies in searching the area for suspects, but none were located.
Undersheriff Pat Gengler said that, as of this morning, the motive is unknown, and there is no suspect information available.
