Kane County Circuit Judge Donald M. Tegeler, Jr., on Nov. 8 found 30-year-old Mustadin Muadinov guilty of the offense of disorderly conduct, Class 3 felony. Muadinov waived his right to a jury trial.

Kane County Assistant State’s Attorneys Joseph Cullen and Jake Matekaitis presented evidence during the four-day trial that the evening of Feb. 12, 2019, Muadinov intentionally led officials and police at the Hollywood Casino in Aurora to believe that a bomb was concealed in a box truck he parked in front of the casino, prompting the evacuation of approximately 175 casino patrons and employees.

Tegeler set Muadinov’s next court appearance for 1:30 p.m. Dec. 11, 2019, in Courtroom 311 at the Kane County Judicial Center for motions and sentencing.

Muadinov faces a sentence between two and five years’ imprisonment in the Illinois Department of Corrections, or probation.

Tegeler revoked bond and ordered Muadinov to remain in custody at the Kane County jail, where he has been held since his arrest in lieu of $900,000 bail.

Kane County State’s Attorney Joe McMahon thanked ASAs Cullen and Matekaitis and the Aurora Police Department for their work in the case.

“We live in a time when public safety officials and innocent civilians alike take threats of mass casualties seriously,” he said. “The response to this incident by Aurora’s first responders, as well as this prosecution, demonstrates that threats of mass violence are not viewed lightly and that the protection of the public is paramount.”
